Harris County Transit will Temporarily Suspend Services
At Noon Wednesday
Ahead of Hurricane Laura
HOUSTON, TX -- In anticipation of Hurricane Laura, officials for the Harris County Transit Service that operates solely on the East side of Harris County, will suspend service beginning at Noon on Wednesday, August 26. Resumption of Service will take place once the transit area is determined to be safe for road travel by county authorities.
Forcasted high winds in the service area pose a hazard for high-profile vehicles such as buses.
“We know how important transportation is for our residents. We want to let our ridership know early enough, so they can plan for the impacts of Hurricane Laura. Our primary responsibility is to ensure the safety of our ridership and our employees,” said Harris County Transit Director Ken Fickes.
Harris County Transit Service, *not* to be confused with Metro, provides bus service for residents of east Harris County including the communities of Crosby, Channelview, North Shore, Highlands and the city of Baytown.
