Attention: First-Time Homebuyers! * Or those who haven’t owned a home in 3 years
Harris County has a Down Payment Assistance Program that could be the ticket into your first home!
With all the good news in today’s real estate market, the bad news is that rising home prices are making it difficult for many first time homebuyers trying to enter the housing market. Harris County’s Down Payment Assistance Program (DAP) may just be the ticket to homeownership.
A first-time home buyer living in certain smaller cities and all unincorporated parts of Harris County can qualify for up to $14,000.00 in down-payment assistance for new construction and $9,300.00 for resale properties (no more than 12 years old).
Qualified families of two for example, should have an income gross of no more than $42,650 per year; families of 4, no more than $53,300 per year. Other requirements include: Completion of a HUD approved homeownership education course; at least one credit score of 620, a debt to income ratio that cannot exceed 42%; and no more than $10,000.00 in liquid assets.
All the qualified buyer need to bring to the table is $350.00 toward the purchase price of the property.
